Dearest Lily,
Of all the German Shepherds I've ever met,
You're the one I will never forget.
You had taken me places I would have never gone,
Your breath taking gait was like rhythm to a song.
You were so beautiful in your whiteness splendor,
I would have given anything to have kept you forever.
But fourteen years plus I finally had to say goodbye,
My little white German Shepherd no more I do sigh…
No other will ever replace your face,
Like snowflakes in winter, you were one of a kind.
Probably never another like you I will find.
When we finally meet at the Rainbow Bridge,
I will see you and others waiting for me,
And once again we will walk together under the Mulberry trees.
For every day and night I will feel your presence,
I may reach down in habit to touch your soft fur,
But only in my broken heart your memory will stir.
Just to prove, my love for you was true.
I am so grateful to have had a shepherd like you!
